This is the bar for skin that gets congested, spotty or itchy — the three-herb combination Indian households have used on problem skin for generations, cold-processed into a bathing bar.

Neem does the clearing: it is the classic herb for blemish-prone and fungal-prone skin, and it is why the bar has its faintly bitter, green smell. Tulsi adds a clean, clove-like aroma and its own long tradition in skin preparations. Aloe vera is there to stop the other two from being harsh — it brings back the moisture that a clarifying wash would otherwise take.

Cold-processed in small batches, cured for four weeks so the bar is hard and long-lasting, and wrapped in jute rather than plastic. No SLS, no parabens, no synthetic fragrance, no palm oil.

Lovely quality

Scented with real essential oil, and you can tell. The last sliver went in a muslin bag for the bath. Slightly slower delivery than I expected, but the product itself is excellent.

    Repeat buy for me

The jute wrapping is a lovely touch and it went straight in the compost. It has completely replaced the shower gel we used to buy. Very happy, and I will be reordering.

Lathers gently and rinses clean without that tight, stripped feeling. Even my teenager, who complains about everything, likes it. Pleased I found this shop.

My whole family uses it now

The bar is hard and dense, so it lasts weeks rather than days. I keep one by the kitchen sink and one in the shower. Exactly as described on the listing.

Questions & answers3

3 of 3 answered

  • Does it dry the skin out?

    Hassan A. · 3 weeks ago

    • It's made cold-process with the glycerine left in, so it's gentler than most supermarket bars. If your skin is on the dry side, keep the bar out of standing water between uses and follow with an oil.

  • How long does one bar last?

    James H. · 2 months ago

    • Around four to six weeks with daily use, longer if it's kept on a draining dish rather than sitting in water.

  • Is this suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

    Nikhil S. · 2 months ago

    • Yes — it's a single plant ingredient with nothing of animal origin used in the product or the processing. The full ingredient list is on the Ingredients tab above.
