Reliable every time
Very finely milled — no grittiness at all when I mix it. I have started using it in a face pack as well as internally. No hesitation in recommending it.

Nagarmotha is the tuber of nut grass, and it smells like nothing else in the cabinet — woody, smoky, faintly camphorous. Perfumers know it as cypriol and pay well for it; Ayurveda knows it as musta and reaches for it whenever digestion is stagnant or the gut feels heavy and slow.
It is a light, drying, bitter-pungent herb, which is why classical texts pair it with ginger for sluggish digestion and use it in postnatal preparations. The same aromatic oils that make it valuable to perfumery make it useful in hair oils and body pastes.
We wash, sun-dry and mill the tubers whole, so the powder keeps its dark colour and its scent. If it does not smell strongly woody when you open it, it is not fresh.

Opened the pouch and the aroma filled the kitchen. I have started using it in a face pack as well as internally. Five stars from me.
This is clearly recently ground rather than sitting in a warehouse for a year. My partner has started taking it too, so we are getting through it quickly. Pleased I found this shop.
I have bought this herb from four different suppliers now and this is the best of them. I take half a teaspoon in warm milk each evening and have done for two months. Exactly as described on the listing.

Does it dissolve properly, or does it settle at the bottom?
Meera P. · 3 weeks ago
It's a milled whole herb rather than an extract, so some settling is normal. Stir it into something warm and drink it fairly promptly — warm milk or a smoothie works better than cold water.

I whisk mine into warm milk and it stays put long enough to finish the cup.

How strong is the taste?
Dev K. · 2 months ago
Honestly, quite earthy — that's true of the herb rather than of our version of it. Most people take it with honey, in milk, or blended into something with a stronger flavour of its own.

Where is it sourced from, and is it tested?
Ellie B. · 2 months ago
Sourcing is listed under Origin at the top of this page. Every batch is checked on arrival for identity and purity before it's packed, and we keep the batch records for each lot we sell.

Can I take this alongside my prescription medication?
Ellie B. · 3 months ago
That isn't something we can answer safely for an individual — herbs can interact with prescription medicines. Please check with your GP or pharmacist first, and show them the ingredient list from this page.
