Opened the pouch and the aroma filled the kitchen. I have started using it in a face pack as well as internally. No hesitation in recommending it.

Reetha is the soapnut: a berry whose shell carries enough natural saponin to foam in warm water without a single added surfactant. Milled to powder it becomes the lathering half of the classic Indian hair wash, where shikakai brings mildness and amla brings the conditioning.
Beyond hair, reetha has been the household detergent of the Himalayan foothills for centuries — for washing pashmina and silk, which soap would ruin, and for bringing the shine back to gold and silver. It is fully biodegradable and completely fragrance-free.
The lather is modest by shampoo standards and slightly astringent, so oily scalps love it and very dry scalps prefer it blended with shikakai.

The colour and smell told me straight away this was fresh. It dissolves without lumps, which the last one I tried absolutely did not. Very happy, and I will be reordering.

Very finely milled — no grittiness at all when I mix it. My partner has started taking it too, so we are getting through it quickly. It would be good to have a larger size available.
I have bought this herb from four different suppliers now and this is the best of them. My partner has started taking it too, so we are getting through it quickly. Delivery was quick and it was well packaged.

Does it dissolve properly, or does it settle at the bottom?
Tom W. · 4 weeks ago
It's a milled whole herb rather than an extract, so some settling is normal. Stir it into something warm and drink it fairly promptly — warm milk or a smoothie works better than cold water.
HerbasenseOfficial answer· 4 weeks ago
I whisk mine into warm milk and it stays put long enough to finish the cup.

How strong is the taste?
Rachel M. · last month
Honestly, quite earthy — that's true of the herb rather than of our version of it. Most people take it with honey, in milk, or blended into something with a stronger flavour of its own.

Is this suitable for vegetarians and vegans?
Hassan A. · 2 months ago
Yes — it's a single plant ingredient with nothing of animal origin used in the product or the processing. The full ingredient list is on the Ingredients tab above.

Where is it sourced from, and is it tested?
Meera P. · 3 months ago
Sourcing is listed under Origin at the top of this page. Every batch is checked on arrival for identity and purity before it's packed, and we keep the batch records for each lot we sell.
