Neem oil smells like garlic left in a damp shed, and that is how you know it is real. The sulphurous notes come from the same fraction that carries azadirachtin — the compound behind neem's use against scalp problems, blemish-prone skin and, in the garden, aphids and mites. Deodorised neem oil is pleasant and largely inert.

Ours is cold-pressed from the kernel, unrefined, and cloudy at room temperature — it solidifies below about 15°C, which is normal for neem and reverses as soon as it warms.

Used at 5–10% in a carrier for scalp and skin work, or diluted with water and a little soap as a garden spray. Powerful, cheap per use, and worth putting up with the smell for.

A little goes a long way, so the bottle lasts. It has replaced two other products in my bathroom cabinet. Pleased I found this shop.

The smell is strong, which is how I know it has not been deodorised. A teaspoon massaged into the scalp before washing has made a real difference. Five stars from me.

    Repeat buy for me

Absorbs beautifully without leaving my skin greasy. I take a teaspoon each morning with a little honey. A genuinely good product at a fair price.

    Better than expected

I have used the supermarket version for years and there is no comparison. The 250ml is the one to buy — the 100ml went in six weeks. Exactly as described on the listing.

Questions & answers4

4 of 4 answered

  • Is this cold pressed?

    Sofia L. · 4 weeks ago

    • Yes, and unrefined — which is why the colour and smell vary a little between batches. That variation is the oil doing what it should, not a fault.

  • Will it clog pores if I use it on my face?

    Hassan A. · 2 months ago

    • That varies from person to person. Try it on a small area for a few days before using it all over, and give any new oil a couple of weeks before deciding.

  • Do you ship outside the UK?

    Sofia L. · 2 months ago

    • We do, to most of Europe. Delivery cost and time are shown at checkout once you've entered an address. Some countries restrict certain botanicals on import, so it's worth checking your own customs rules first.

  • Is it safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

    Tom W. · 3 months ago

    • We don't recommend starting any herbal supplement in pregnancy or while breastfeeding without speaking to your midwife or doctor first. Please take the ingredient list to them and follow their advice over ours.
