Single-clove garlic is not a different species; it is ordinary garlic grown at altitude in poor, cold soil, where the plant puts everything into one bulb instead of splitting into a dozen cloves. The result is smaller, denser, and noticeably more pungent — higher in allicin, and prized across the Himalaya as both food and medicine.

In Ayurveda and Unani lahsun is the great warming herb: for joints in cold weather, for a sluggish chest, for circulation and for the heart. The traditional way to take it is one clove swallowed whole in the morning, or crushed into warm milk at night for aching joints.

Hand-harvested from Himalayan smallholdings and air-cured whole. Expect real heat — this is not the mild supermarket bulb.

You can see the quality as soon as you open the bag. Storing it whole means it still smells strong three months in. Pleased I found this shop.

    Very pleased

Whole pieces rather than broken bits, which is exactly what I wanted. I make a decoction twice a week and the strength is consistent every time. Perfectly decent, but I have had better value elsewhere for this particular herb.

Whole pieces rather than broken bits, which is exactly what I wanted. The larger size is much better value and it keeps perfectly. No hesitation in recommending it.

    Proper whole herb, no dust

You can see the quality as soon as you open the bag. Grinding a week's worth at a time works well for me. Exactly as described on the listing.

    Repeat buy for me

I grind it fresh myself, so getting it whole matters to me. The larger size is much better value and it keeps perfectly. Five stars from me.

Arrived clean, well graded and free of the dust you often get. I make a decoction twice a week and the strength is consistent every time. No hesitation in recommending it.

Questions & answers4

4 of 4 answered

  • Do I need to grind it myself?

    Meera P. · 3 weeks ago

    • For most uses, yes — it's sold whole so it keeps its aroma far longer than a pre-ground powder would. A spice grinder or a pestle and mortar is plenty.

  • Is it cleaned and sorted, or will I need to pick through it?

    Tom W. · 2 months ago

    • It's sorted and cleaned before packing, so you shouldn't be picking out stalks or grit. If a pack ever arrives otherwise, tell us and we'll replace it.

  • Is the packaging recyclable?

    Hassan A. · 2 months ago

    • The outer carton is card and goes in with your paper recycling. The inner pouch is kept airtight to protect the contents, so check your local authority's guidance for that part.

  • How should I store it once it's open?

    Rachel M. · 3 months ago

    • Somewhere cool, dark and dry, sealed between uses — a cupboard away from the hob is ideal. Storage guidance for this product specifically is on the Storage tab above.
