Suhaga is borax, and in Ayurveda it is not the raw mineral that is used but tankan bhasma: borax that has been roasted until it puffs up white and porous, driving off its water of crystallisation. That step, shodhana, is part of the classical preparation and is what the tradition means when it prescribes tankan.

Its documented traditional uses are external and oral-topical: in tooth powders as an antiseptic, in mouth washes, as a preservative in traditional cosmetics, and applied to fungal-prone skin. It is also the traditional flux used by goldsmiths and a household cleaning mineral.

We supply the purified, roasted grade. This is a mineral to use knowledgeably: it is potent, it is not a supplement, and internal use belongs strictly with a qualified vaidya.

Great to find a proper source
The traditional grade, which is surprisingly hard to source in the UK. I follow the instructions carefully and it has been completely straightforward. Perfectly decent, but I have had better value elsewhere for this particular herb.

Happy with this
Well packed and sealed properly, which matters with this. I use it two or three times a week and have barely made a dent in the pack. Delivery was quick and it was well packaged.

- The outer carton is card and goes in with your paper recycling. The inner pouch is kept airtight to protect the contents, so check your local authority's guidance for that part.
